Acts of Mating in Animals
The act of mating in animals refers to the process of sexual union between a male and a female for the purpose of reproduction.
In veterinary and animal husbandry terms, different species have specific terms to describe this process.
For example, mating in cattle and buffalo is called serving, in sheep it’s known as tupping, coupling is the term used in pigs, and covering is used for horses:
- Cattle and Buffalo: Serving
- Goat: Serving
- Sheep: Tupping
- Pigs: Coupling
- Horse: Covering

- Rabbit: Mating or Breeding
